About us

The Nereus programme follows the European Commission projects Decomate I & Decomate II. It started in April 2003 to create key online services for economics research of high standing.

Focussed access to global research of excellence
Nereus is developing innovative information services to:

  • Connect existing essential research resources
  • Unlock new content from top economics faculties.

Nereus will seek to create integrated access to the content-rich economics resources of key libraries, academic publications and e-resources in Europe and abroad – be they existing essential research resources such as RePEc or new content of excellence from near to 70 of Europe’s top economics scholars unlocked through the Economists Online project.
Book references, working papers, reports, government publications, statistics, as well as other web resources will be made available online, with the aim to provide as much full-text and raw data as possible.
This will be provided in a number of languages, starting with English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian, although most information is in English.

    The Nereus consortium
The Nereus consortium is made up of prestigious institutions in the academic economics world. Partners are sought using the European Economics Association ranking lists, with the aim to involve key research centres in Europe for the provision of new research information services. Partners will also be sought in the US to complement the European resources.
Representatives of the current network are on the programme's Steering Committee, the decision-making body. This is part of the overall Management Structure.

    The Nereus Scientific Advisory Board
An Advisory Board of renowned economists monitors the development of Nereus services to help ensure that Nereus's plans meet the needs of the users as effectively as possible. In addition, we ask scholars about their needs to shape present and future programme goals and services.
