Goals

Nereus strives to:

• Visualise the efforts of Nereus by providing concrete deliverables in the form of services, events and other tangible benefits.

• Gain a critical mass of leading economic institutions, making first-rate academic information accessible to the European academic community in as simple a way as possible.

• Disseminate and make new content accessible to the economist.

• Give seamless access to research results of high quality from leading European and US institutions.

• Create added value information services for economics linking the key resource capacities of the strongest universities and their libraries of Europe and abroad.

• Provide personalized, interactive, dynamic information services on a reciprocal basis to the libraries' clients of all kinds, i.e. academics, managers, teachers, and students.

• Make use of innovative and most-appropriate digital library technology to connect libraries and their resources and to make the connection of Nereus services into local information environments seamless.

• Distribute Nereus activities across the Nereus Members for cost-effectiveness.

• Form a network of excellence of key international economics information providers to gather and build on expertise in information and knowledge provision methods and services. Secure a prominent place for Nereus in the information-seeking habits of economics researchers and economics librarians as a must-see resource for economics.
